After a whack to the jaw with a hockey stick, we thought it might be prudent to take our eldest for a slight detour on the way home from hockey last weekend.
A slow, long, sitting around forever detour to the emergency department. Don’t get me wrong. It’s an impressive thing, that we can show up, get assessed, xrayed and diagnosed in only 3 hours. But there’s a lot of waiting in this game.
Anyhow, I digress. The real emergency was that I didn’t pack my bag. I grabbed my phone and wallet when we left for sport that morning. And that’s it.
No pen.
No notebook.
No ipad with the bluetooth keyboard.
Nothing.
Nada.
Three glorious hours with no distractions. Literally nothing else to do, clean or eat. And I have nothing.
I may have even become delirious. At one stage, I noticed the doctor had left her notebook and pen next to the computer terminal thingy. Would it be OK if I just wrote a few notes? Probably not.
In any case, this was the real emergency. Next time, I’ll call for help.
