You may have heard of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Authors everywhere sign up to write their 50,000 word novels in the month of November, by writing and tracking about 1600 words per day. Inspiring stuff.
So inspiring, that I thought I’d join in.
But
I’m not writing a novel.
I’m not writing 50,000 words.
I’m not tracking 1600 words per day.
I’m putting the nano in NaNoWriMo. I’ll do it MYYYYY way.
I have 2 Junior Fictions of 5000 words each to write, plus I play in the 52 week picture book challenge and am 8 weeks behind (because life, holidays, renos, kids, laziness). Plus during the course of nanowrimo, another 4 weeks will pass, which is another 4 PBs to write.
So, game plan is thusly:
(2 x 5000 JF) + (12 x 500 PB) = 16,000 words
Notice correct use of BODMAS in my equation there? See, us writers can do more than pick out a dodgy apostrophe.
So, that being the plan, goal is 533 per day. Or, 1 PB per day for the first 12 days, then cram in 2 JFs towards the end.
And go!
