I was supposed to be giving blood.

But then my iron levels from the finger prick test were too low. So, they thought they’d use a vein to check my iron levels, and if they were OK, they’d use the other vein to steal my blood.

As it happened though, they stuffed up vein 1. Which meant even if my iron levels were good, they’d run out of arms to stick needles into. So, they used arm 2 to test my iron (which was too low anyway) and sent me in for a cookie and a 10 minute rest before I left.

Cookie and 10 minutes writing time. Winning.

Skip forward another day, and we’re in that eerie time between winter and summer sports. I keep feeling like I’m forgetting something, because we’re all home. All the time.

And so. SHOCK. HORROR. I’ve done some brainstorming at home. In front of the fire. (with the footy on of course!)

And tonight, I sit in a chair next to the bookshelf, looking out to the backyard. While 5 tweenagers *don’t* sleep in our tent. If they go to sleep, then maybe I can. But in the meantime, I shall write.

*UPDATE: it’s midnight and there are 6 boys playing hockey in my backyard. Help!
