Silver Linings

Here’s some stuff I don’t hate about our current level 4 situation in Melbourne town.

  • Masks keep you warm.
I don’t have to wear a mask when I run. I wear a snood style face mask that I can pull up when I pass other people. The other morning I was running. It was cold. I kept the mask up and my face didn’t completely freeze like it normally would. I could get used to this.
  • PJs on at 8pm
There is no legitimate reason to not put my PJs on the minute it turns 8 o’clock. I mean I can’t leave the house.
Except… the first night, I sliced my finger with an electric knife (one of many sourdough related injuries) after 8pm. As I lay on the kitchen floor looking at my blood splatters across the floorboards (I felt faint), I was tossing up whether a trip to the hospital for stitches would require a change into my clothes or whether I could get away with PJs. Thankfully the bleeding stopped and I was able to stay in my PJs.
  • More sourdough
Shhhhh… don’t tell anyone. I’ve jumped on the sourdough bandwagon. Sabrina, our sourdough starter, has brought us 1-2 loaves every day, pizza dough, crumpets, tortillas, cinnamon scrolls, and croissants. More lockdown means more Sabrina… and Sabrina’s cousin Sadie the Scoby. Yep, we’re making kombucha too!

Just want to say, despite all this, the current situation sucks. And it sucks more for some than others. Hope you’re all hanging in there.
